help The problem
An asset tracker only works as a product if it can be deployed and forgotten. That puts two hard constraints on the engineering: the tag has to survive years on its own battery, and the mesh carrying its data has to route reliably across every node role in a real facility — while the tools used to commission and service the fleet run on whatever hardware the field team happens to carry.
build What we built
- Ultra-low-power tracker firmware on Silicon Labs EFR32 (accelerometer, magnetic switch, LED, button) reaching 5+ years of battery life — the low-power design that defines a fire-and-forget tag.
- Wirepas Mesh firmware on nRF52840 across the protocol's node roles — mesh routing, positioning, ultra-low-power sleeping nodes and secure provisioning. Specialist, hands-on Wirepas experience.
- Cross-platform companion tooling on Android, iOS, Windows and macOS — Flutter first, later refactored around a shared reusable Rust core — with device interaction over BLE and NFC on both the firmware and app sides.
- Engineering practice: CI/CD for automated builds and releases, plus automated and manual test suites for the tracker firmware.
